We took the test
A healthy vaginal microbiome is very important: it cleanses the vagina, maintains a healthy pH balance, and protects you from harmful bacteria. This helps you avoid a whole host of vaginal issues, such as infections, itching, and irritation.
But how can you achieve a clean and fresh intimate feeling without damaging her protective bacteria? After all… soap simply contains antibacterial ingredients and preservatives . In short, does such a thing as microbiome- safe intimate soaps exist that are as safe as water?
To investigate this, we conducted a microbiological analysis* in our lab. We compared the most common intimate soaps on the market with water and our YUN VGN wash gels.
* To determine the impact of these soaps on our vaginal microbiome, we simulated an average shower under controlled and standardized conditions. By exposing selected bacterial strains (in this case, vaginal Lactobacilli) to a diluted soap solution, we were able to measure the effect on the growth capacity of those bacteria.
The result
We are proud to say that YUN VGN Hydra scores just as well as water!
Even if you only use water to wash, all the important bacteria are affected, and the vaginal microbiome always needs time to recover. Ideally, this should happen as quickly as possible to prevent an overgrowth of harmful bacteria (and thus vaginal discomfort).
With the traditional soaps, it was striking that some bacteria were completely eliminated after immediate use, and it even took more than 2 days (!) for these important vaginal lactobacilli to reappear.
YUN’s intimate care products do work in harmony with the intimate microbiome and are the only ones that are as safe as water! (see chart)

Conclusion
Is it possible to freshen up your intimate area and strengthen your pH balance without harming the protective bacteria?
Yes, thanks to YUN’s intimate care products, which actually work in harmony with the intimate microbiome.
In collaboration with the University of Antwerp, we carefully selected all ingredients—from surfactants to preservatives—with the vaginal microbiome in mind.
In fact: with the VGN PROBIOTIC REPAIR Gel , you can now even add millions of those same protective bacteria that restore the vaginal flora microbiome and thus help prevent irritation. You also prevent the growth of harmful bacteria thanks to the pH-lowering lactic acid in the VGN wash gels. This way, you immediately create the optimal environment for good bacteria.

THEY WENT BEFORE YOU
These women have used YUN VGN and love it!
Tanja
“Ever since I started using this body wash, I haven’t had any more annoying yeast infections.”
Eline
“Best body wash ever: odorless, colorless, and—most importantly—no irritation or lingering scents!”
Nina
“VGN delivers on its promises. I regularly experience pH imbalances, which cause irritation and itching. It’s not harsh at all, unlike other intimate wash gels.”
WHY YUN? PROTECT YOUR INTIMATE AREA
The vagina’s low pH prevents problem-causing bacteria from growing. That’s why you should use a microbiome-friendly wash with a low pH. Traditional intimate soaps can disrupt your vagina’s pH, allowing harmful bacteria to thrive.
The lactobacilli in and around your vagina play an essential role: they produce lactic acid and keep the pH low and balanced— between pH 3.8 and 4.5. The active pH regulation provided by YUN wash gels creates an ideal environment. By promoting the growth of lactobacilli while inhibiting the growth of pathogens, you reduce the risk of infections, itching, and irritation.

PROBIOTICS FOR YOUR VAGINA: THE UNIVERSITY OF ANTWERP AND YUN HAVE PROVEN THAT IT WORKS!
For the very first time, the ISALA project investigated the intimate microbiome under the direction of Sarah Lebeer, a professor at the University of Antwerp and a microbiologist and bioengineer at YUN. Using state-of-the-art DNA technology, they proved that the bacteria in the vagina are vital.
The study found that bacteria help maintain a healthy balance in the vagina, allowing it to retain its natural self-cleaning properties.
